For over 75 years, C.&A. Wölte GmbH & Co. KG, now known as Cawö Textil, has stood for high-quality terry cloth products from Germany. Founded in 1947 by brothers Carl and Alfons Wölte, Emsdetten's first terry cloth weaving mill developed into a company with unique expertise and passion for textile craftsmanship. Today, Cawö is managed by Christian Wölte and Daniel Kordts-Wölte, the third generation of the family, and produces terry cloth towels, bathrobes, and homewear of unparalleled quality at its Emsdetten location.
Products & Manufacturing – From yarn to the finished towel
Cawö operates a fully integrated textile facility with approximately 200 employees: spooling, twisting, warping, sizing, weaving, bleaching, dyeing, washing, and finishing – all under one roof. The result is terry cloth products made from 100% cotton that impress with their excellent performance, durability, and timeless design.
Whether towels, bathrobes, bath mats, or accessories – every product is a piece of textile craftsmanship "Made in Germany" and combines tradition with the latest production technology. This creates a distinctive promise of quality that will last for generations.
Responsibility – Sustainability from the start
Cawö is committed to responsibility in all areas: from the selection of cotton to the finished product. All textiles are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified – tested for harmful substances and harmless to health. Cawö is also a member of the Better Cotton Initiative , which promotes sustainable cotton farming worldwide. By 2025, at least 50% of the cotton used should come from more sustainable sources. With this commitment, Cawö is contributing to the continuous improvement of the entire value chain.
The story – From weaving mill to premium brand
What began in 1947 with Carl and Alfons Wölte is now one of the last terry cloth weaving mills in Germany. Over generations, the company has continuously evolved without forgetting its roots. With the founding of Cawö Textil GmbH & Co. KG in 1992, the product and brand portfolio was restructured and expanded internationally. Today, Cawö stands for high-quality terry cloth products "Made in Germany" – a brand that combines trust, tradition, and innovation.
